Engagement sessions are always included in my wedding packages because it’s a great time for all of us to get to know each other. I know I’ve talked about it before, but every time I do an engagement, it reminds me of how important it is and why they should never be left out!
Not only do we get to know each other and they are super fun, but they are also completely customized to what you want and to your personality. The point isn’t to just get some nice photos (as most think), but also to have the amazing memories to go with them! So planning something fun is always a must!
Last week I got to hang out with Dino and Krista!
For their session they wanted to start off at the School of Architecture. There weren’t really any ties to that location, other than the fact that one of Dino’s groomsmen had access. To them it was a cool new location that they wanted to checkout. Plus, not many (if any) have been able to go into it for a session like this. So that definitely made it unique!
Following a few shots to get into the swing of things, we did some desk racing. Yes, desk racing. The wheels on the desk and chairs just made it so perfect. Having a little fun to forget about me and my camera was perfect. It looked like so much fun I wanted to join in, but I had a job to do, unfortunately…
Clearly Dino won, but it seems Krista didn’t like the idea. They had a rematch which totally ended in a different result (Dino may have given her a break).
We didn’t choose to go to the School of Architecture for desk racing though, so after a little fun, to make things more relaxed, we walked around the new facility to capture photos all over.
Their session didn’t end there. It was a beautiful day out, the mild weather we were having was just perfect. Both Krista and Dino wanted to spend a little time outside at her parents house snowshoeing. Something they like to do together almost every day. I personally love to snowshoe as well, so it was a lot of fun tagging along as they went for their little walk.
It’s always so fun spending time with my clients. Seeing their personalities, their love for each other, everything. Even after our first meeting to discuss my wedding packages, every engagement session has that “I feel awkward” moment. Most people aren’t used to being the center of attention. Everybody gets that in front of the camera.
One of the best things though, is seeing how people get more and more comfortable, having a great time and enjoying themselves. That’s what is so special about my job.
I always love walking away with the thought that I didn’t just take great photos, but I made some awesome new friends.
Congratulations again Dino and Krista!! Looking forward to your wedding this fall!!
