 A couple months ago we launched the first ever Studio Dance Mini Session Day. It was such a success that after chatting with some of the dancers and parents, I knew outdoor dance photos were a must!

Welcome to the first ever Outdoor Dance Mini Session Day! Yay!

At the moment, Dance Minis (both indoor and outdoor) are only held twice a year, so make sure you book as soon as possible!

Spots are limited, but open to all dancers from any studio.

I’m sure you have a ton of questions. So hopefully the information in this blog will answer them all (for now). More information will be sent out after your booking has been made. If at the end you still have more questions, don’t be afraid to send me a message on either Facebook or by email.

Mini sessions are meant to be a way to get a few awesome photos of your dancer once or twice a year. If you are looking for a fully personalized experience, we highly recommend a full session. Full sessions are unfortunately a little heavier on the wallet (since they are much more intensive) and therefore designed to be a once in a lifetime opportunity (e.g., dance graduation, birthday gift, Christmas gift, etc.). But I mean, if you want to book another full session a couple years later, I’m definitely here for that lol! 

Back to Dance Minis!!!

These sessions include basic features, with the option to add on certain features. This is designed so that you can make it unique to you and your dancer. When booking, you will be able to fill out a quote form that will give you all the options. Each customization can be added (for a fee) with the grand total updating as you go, so you can play around with different options before finalizing your decision! Upgrades or customizations aren’t required and are completely up to you!

Here are some ways you will be able to customize the session!

There will be a choice between two different locations… downtown for a more urban feel and forest/field for a more outdoorsy feel. Exact locations have not yet been determined, but will be decided upon closer to the date. Special locations may also be added in the customization options.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Multiple sessions will be scheduled back to back on this day, so starting on time is super important! I suggest showing up at least 10min early to your given time slot just to be safe. That way, everything will go off without a hitch.




Will a dance teacher be present for my shoot?

Yes, my assistant is highly trained and currently employed as a dance teacher. She will be present to assist for the entire day to ensure the dancers’ posing and technique are done to their best ability. 

Can I bring a friend with me?

Unfortunately, we don’t allow guests or friends to accompany you at any of our session locations. This is both for safety reasons and reducing distractions. For minors, ONE parent will be permitted (you may be asked to wait in a designated area during session times).

My package only includes 2 photos. Can I buy more?

Yes of course! Each package will have what is included on your invoice. Once your photos are done, you will be able to view them on a beautifully displayed online gallery. From there you will be able to choose (and download) the ones that are included in your package, with the option to buy more if you so choose. There will be a per photo cost, or a discounted “buy all” feature where you get ALL the photos from the session for one fixed charge.

Can I print my own photos? How big can they be enlarged to?

With all packages I include the printing rights. This means that you have the right to print images on your own at no additional charge. All files will be in .jpg format (most compatible for all devices) roughly 5-7mb per file. This should allow for printing up to almost any size of your choice.

If you’re getting a billboard though (hahaha) or are having troubles with enlargements, make sure to contact me, I am here to help!

Can the dancer wear a dance costume for the shoot?

Unfortunately, these mini sessions are meant to be a step away from your typical dance costume photoshoots. We believe that’s what recital photos are perfect for. These are meant to be casual, different, and something new. Following our tips and guidelines webpage (that will be sent out) is just one of the ways we make sure your photos are as close as possible to what we advertise. Again, this form will be sent out to all booking clients once contract and payments are made.

How long will my online gallery be available?

Your online gallery will only be available for 30 days. So make sure to download them right away. You should (but not guaranteed due to spam settings) receive an email a few days before the 30-day deadline if you have forgotten to download your images. It will then automatically be taken down and be unavailable. You will be able to purchase extensions and mobile apps from the shopping cart.

Will I be able to see some images during the session?

We love showing images as we shoot. It helps with confidence and shows how amazing you are without photoshop!!

I will have my camera tethered to an iPad so we can review the images for composition, posing, expression, and lighting as we go. This helps make things go a lot faster. I don’t allow for others to view them, though. I will randomly select images to show the dancer and/or parent. We want to build some excitement for the final product too. Can you blame us?

What if I don’t hear back from you? SPAM and JUNK folders!!!

Due to spam filters, sometimes my emails will end up in your junk folder. Please make sure to check them every once in a while to avoid missing anything and/or losing your spot.
