One of the best decisions I’ve ever made was getting my dog Bokeh (pronounced: Boca). I always wanted to get a Golden Retriever, but because I was working long ours at a mining company, and doing photography part time, it wasn’t a good time for one.
In July 2015, mining was struggling, causing there to be a massive layoff. I was one of the lucky ones to have been let go. I say “lucky” because ever since I started photography, it was my dream to go full time. I was finally able to make it happen!
Half a year passed, giving me some time to grow my photography business, making a perfectly structured home for a new family member.
The search was on!
It didn’t take longer than 3 days until I came across an ad for a litter of pure bred Golden Retrievers. Retrievers seem to be a hot commodity and get snatched up really fast, so I had to jump on it right away. Within posting of the ad, and my phone call (2hrs later). Only 2 of 8 were still available. I spoke with the breeder for over an hour, which was nice. I was able to let her know I had a perfect safe home and what personality I was looking for.
I had a plan.
I wanted to train him to be my little photography assistant. He could attend photo-shoots (and weddings) with me, carrying some of my lighter gear. Instantly she said, “I have the perfect one for you!”. I was super excited!
One week later, I was on my way to pick up my new puppy (in Innisfil).
Here are a few of his first photos growing up. He just turned 6 months today!! It’s just like all parents say… they grow up way too fast!
